I Want One

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - A Canadian filmmaker plans to have a mini camera installed in his prosthetic eye to make documentaries and raise awareness about surveillance in society.

Rob Spence, 36, who lost an eye in an accident as a teen-ager, said his so-called Project Eyeborg is to have the camera, a battery and a wireless transmitter mounted on a tiny circuit board. http://www.eyeborgblog.com/

"Originally the whole idea was to do a documentary about surveillance. I thought I would become a sort of super hero ... fighting for justice against surveillance," Spence said.

"In Toronto there are 12,000 cameras. But the strange thing I discovered was that people don't care about the surveillance cameras, they were more concerned about me and my secret camera eye because they feel that is a worse invasion of their privacy."

Spence, in Brussels to appear at a media conference, said no part of the camera would be connected to his nerves or brain.

He does not intend to create a reality TV show and the camera will be switched off when not needed, he said.

"I don't want to go into a locker room. I don't want to show the world me going to the bathroom either ... I'm not a life-caster and I don't plan to be one," he said.

It's A Coming....I Hope

I found this on KUTV.com. It is nice to see that not all politicians in Utah don't have their heads crammed up their asses:

The Salt Lake County Council has approved a proposal to give benefits to the domestic partners and adult live-in relatives of county employees.

The changes were approved on a 6-3 vote on Tuesday and will be formally adopted at next week's council meeting.

Democratic Councilwoman Jenny Wilson has been pushing for the changes since 2005 shortly after she took office. Wilson says she's surprised it took as long as it did to approve the proposal and that some county employees will benefit immediately.

The proposal's chances for success got a boost after the November election, when the council's makeup changed to a Democratic majority. One Republican, Max Burdick, also voted for the change.

Finally!!!

Well, I am back. Sorry work has been a little crazy as of late.

So my quest to removed myself from the Mormon Church is complete. I received my letter dated January 13, 2009 saying that I was no longer a member of the church. It took about 45 days to complete the process, and while I was not hesitant at all in my decision making, I did wonder if I would feel any different. Would I be smote down? Would I break out in boils? Well, I did feel different. I felt like a huge weight, that I had been carrying around for way too long had been lifted.

I had been battling with the thought of doing it for many years, but it was not until I received a threatening phone call from some religious zealot of a Stake President, that I finally stepped up and did it. If baffles me, the Mormons fled the Midwest amid religious persecution, and there they were persecuting me. I have respect for them and for my family and friends that are still members, but why do I want anything to do with a church that treats me like a second class citizen. It is hard enough being treated like one by our lawmakers. I only hope that I can be an example to those who are looking to free themselves from the ties that bind.

And in other news. My little brother Eric and his wife Jessica are expecting a baby girl any day now. My little brother Zach and his wife Alisa are expecting a baby boy in April. My sister Erin is remarried with two new step sons. Been and will continue to be a busy time for my family.

Peace and love!!!

When I Can't Make My Own Expression

Sometimes in life, I can't find the words for what I am feeling. I dated this great guy a year ago, and we called it off after a few months. We were in different places, but are still really good friends, who still do a lot together. It was like we were together, but without the title. I have held the hope that we might get back together, but last weekend he told me that he has had 4 realtionships, and no desire for another. It came as a blow, but I understand and support his position. Our friendship is not going to change, but I could not find the words to how I am feeling, til I found this. This is Jose Gonzeles and his cover of Heartbeats.

one night to be confused
one night to speed up truth
we had a promise made
four hands and then away

both under influense
we had devine scent
to know what to say
mind is a razorblade

to call for hands of above
to lean on
wouldn't be good enough
for me, no

one night of magic rush
the start a simple touch
one night to push and scream
and then releaf

ten days of perfect tunes
the colors red and blue
we had a promise made
we were in love

to call for hands of above
to lean on
wouldn't be good enough
for me, no

to call for hands of above
to lean on
wouldn't be good enough

and you, you knew the hands of the devil
and you, kept us awake with wolf teeths
sharing different heartbeats
in one night

to call for hands of above
to lean on
wouldn't be good enough
for me, no

to call for hands of above
to lean on
wouldn't be good enough
for me, no

Hmmmm.....a poll

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) has released a new poll that shows most U.S. adults support legal protections for gay and transgender people.

75 percent support marriage, domestic partnerships or civil unions for same-sex couples. But only 47 percent are in favor of gay marriage, with 49 percent opposed.

64 percent favor allowing openly gay people to serve in the military.

63 percent back expanding hate-crime laws to protect gay and transgender people.

51 percent favor fair housing, employment and public-accommodation laws for gay and transgender people.

69 percent oppose laws that ban qualified gay and lesbian couples from adopting children. (Utah has such a statute.)
